Dear St Monica’s families and friends,
I am incredibly proud of my staff who have gone above and beyond to get their documentation ready and for showcasing the wonderful teaching and learning that is taking place in the classrooms.
I am ever so appreciative of my Leadership Team, particularly Maggie Lloyd, who has shown unwavering support of me to make sure the two days have run as smoothly as they have.
I am grateful and thankful to our parent community, some of whom who gave up their time to speak to the panel about this great school of ours. Finally to our students, you are the reason we are here and all of the commendations, affirmations and actions we receive from the panel are for you! We will receive the final report in the coming months which will be available for distribution to our community.
Catholic Schools Enroment Period - Next Tuesday 16 May and Thursday 18 May our school will be hosting two Open Days. The school will be open for tours and at 6pm, on the Tuesday evening, we also will be hosting an Enrolment Information Session. 5 flyers were sent home with each family on Monday afternoon. Please distribute these to anyone you know who is interested in finding out more about our school and encourage them to come over for a visit!
Peace and blessings,
Caleb C, Lily M, Charlie C, Lucy G, Max S, Ryan W
Focus on Kindergarten
In Kindergarten the students are exploring the concepts of relationships and resilience – both very important for all of us but especially for little people learning to be a part of a bigger community like school. As they investigate these big understandings they will learn that:
● as a child, Jesus grew up in his Jewish community, Jerusalem, just like they are growing up in their community in Canberra,
● we have relationships with the people around us - our families, our community,
● Jesus’ teachings can help them to make good choices, be resilient and develop positive relationships with others.
What choices did you have to make today? How resilient were you when things didn’t go to plan? How can we look to Jesus’ teachings to develop better relationships with everyone?

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who helped out last Friday. I started the day with no-one and Rach Pentes, Katherine O'Sullivan, Angalea Turnbull, Tim Porter, Chris Regan and Katrina Ciampa came to my rescue. A special welcome to Bianca Partington who hit the ground running and fitted in like she has been here forever. I understand that in these times many people are taking up extra hours and time is tight but our canteen cannot run without volunteer power. So even if you only have any hour to give once or twice a term, your time would be appreciated. Many schools have lost their canteens or have higher prices due to the costs of staffing or they utilise off-site services. The future of our canteen service depends on our wonderful volunteers. Please consider joining us, no experience is necessary. Please sign up using the link below.
Some lunches are going to waste as children are sick. If your child has to go home early please let the office know and we will arrange to get their order to them to go. If you know they will be absent before order cut off you can cancel on Qkr! and get a credit. If you let me know by 10am I can hold over the order for the next week, so please don't let food go to waste and don't be out of pocket. My contact email is wendy.regan@cg.catholic.edu.au
