Dear St Monica’s families and friends,
Pope Francis on his visit to the USA in 2015 said,
God IS truth.
God IS beauty.
God IS goodness.
One of the most beautiful things that God made was the family. All of the Love, Beauty and Truth that God has for himself, he gives to families. The greatest of these is love, unconditional love, love that is so huge it cannot be described. This is the type of love we have for our children.
When you experience a ‘this makes my heart sing’ moment, for example the birth of baby, your child walking for the first time, a relationship blossoming, a new friendship that is made, a beautiful sunset, the tune of a song, the kindness of a stranger, a community or village wrapping around others that need support, are examples of the transcendentals at work. These special moments, help us to capture but a glimpse of God’s grandeur!!
Playground upgrade / Naturescape project - Parents and grandparents are invited to have their say about the Playground / Naturescape upgrade project. Parent Teacher Interviews
This afternoon you should receive notification to schedule a parent teacher interview for your child. These interviews will be held in Week 8 of this term. You will have until Thursday of Week 7 (13 June) to select a time.
At these meetings teachers will outline how your child has been progressing in their learning, highlighting areas of growth and improvement. These are very important conversations for both the teacher and the parents. Reports will then be available via COMPASS in Week 10.
You can book a time for Parent- Teacher Conferences through the COMPASS portal.
Flourishing in the Footsteps
First Holy Communion
Last Thursday our students in Year 4 participated in a retreat day to deepen their understanding of Jesus in the Eucharist. We were joined by the Year 4 students from St Michael’s and the students from Our Lady of Perpetual Help School of Religion who are also preparing for their First Holy Communion. The students participated in bread making, drama and art activities. We were treated to a delicious hot dog lunch prepared by our amazing Mrs Regan and her helpers in the canteen. Our day concluded in the church with students participating in Eucharistic Adoration. The students making their First Holy Communion and their families gathered later that evening for a time of shared prayer through a Visio Divina and the children sharing their experiences of the day.
We thank our Year 4 teachers - Mrs Lustica, Mrs Currie, Mr McFadden and our Youth Minister Mr Mass, for their preparation and exceptional effort in making the day one to remember. Please continue to pray for our children preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion on the weekend of Saturday 15 June and Sunday 16 June.

Last weekend Elijah G from 4M participated in his first official go-kart race at Circuit Mark Webber. Competing against other drivers Elijah showed composure and managed to navigate the day successfully. He stayed focused throughout the day and participated in four races placing as high as 6th. This event was a great start for Elijah in motorsport and we look forward to seeing his progress in future races. Well done Elijah!!
So much fun was had yesterday making our own musical instruments to use with Mrs Pearson’s sing along. With the help of some Year 6 students' we explored rhythm and identifying a beat to copy. A lot of decision-making skills were used to decide what to put into and onto their instruments. Next week we will be exploring how things move!
St Monica’s PrimarySchool is holding a Pie Drive! All funds raised will go towards new equipment for our school, including a new sound system for the Hall.
Order via the Qkr! App. Ordering closes Tuesday 11 June. All orders must be collected from the school between 3.00pm and 5.00pm on Thursday 27 June.
Our Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics Holiday Camp will be held at Radford College from 16 - 18 July this winter school holidays for children in Kindergarten to Year 8.

School Student Broadband Initiative
School Student Broadband Initiative - Free internet until December 2025
To find out more call: 1800 954 610 (10am – 6pm AEDT Monday to Friday) or visit https://www.anglicarevic.org.au/student-internet/
The Australian Government has announced that they are extending the School Student Broadband Initiative until 31 December 2025. The extension means that the SSBI nomination period will remain open until 31 December 2024 with free National Broadband Network (nbn) internet service for all new and existing families on the SSBI until 31 December 2025. For existing SSBI families who have already signed up, this means their SSBI service will automatically be extended until 31 December 2025 (no further eligibility checks will be required). For eligible families who connect before the end of this year, they will get up to two years of free nbn broadband.
How can the School Student Broadband Initiative help your child? - Children who can access online learning at home as part of their education are more likely to engage in classroom activities. Access to fast internet at home can also support children to build their digital skills, learn how to safely use the internet and participate in a world that is more dependent on digital technology.
Is my family eligible for the School Student Broadband Initiative?
To be eligible, families must:
Have a child living at home that is enrolled in an Australian school (up to year 12 including Prep in Qld/Vic/Tas, Kindergarten in ACT/NSW, Reception in SA, Transition in NT and Pre-Primary in WA).
Not have an active National Broadband Network (nbn®) Internet service at home. Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility.
Live in a premises that can access the National Broadband Network via a standard connection – this will be checked for you.
Not have had an active nbn connection during the previous 14 days.
