Dear St Monica’s families and friends,
R U OK? Day is celebrated annually in Australia on the second Thursday of every September. On this day Australians check up on each other especially those who may be going through a tough time. In the busyness of our daily lives it is great that days like R U OK? are observed to make us and those around us seen, heard, and understood. The day also addresses the crisis of social isolation and community cohesiveness. With a focus on the prevention of suicides and counseling, R U OK? Day can save lives.
School Visitors - Last week, we were thrilled to showcase some of the great teaching and learning that is happening at St Monica's, to visiting teachers from NSW and Victoria. Catholic Education's Catalyst intitiative is gaining wide interest from other schools, Dioceses and Education Departments across the country.
Save the Date... all parents, including our incoming families for Kindergarten and other year levels for next year, are invited to to our 'Open Forum School Council Gathering' next term, to be held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 24 October. At this event we call for nominations for the 2024 School Council, discuss key intitiatives for next year and participate in a workshop with the Family Engagement Officer from Catholic Education - Sarah Rose.
Peace and Blessings to all families,
PLEASE RETURN ALL WALKATHON PLEDGE CARDS AND MONEY TO SCHOOL TOMORROW.
RAFFLE PRIZES WILL BE DRAWN ON MONDAY 18 SEPTEMBER

If you don't have the App
- Download the App.
- For the school type in "ACEN Member Collection"
- Login using your CECG login and select Canberra Goulburn for the diocese
You may also like to watch a story on Story Box and do one of their suggested activities.
Overdue Book notices will be emailed out on Friday so that you have time over the weekend to find those books that have managed to sneak under beds, on to bookshelves or have fallen down the back of the couch. Please return the books to school to ensure your child can borrow extra books for the holidays.
Transport Canberra Bus Timetable Changes Commencing 9 October 2023
The timetable features more frequent weekday bus services, most of which will run at least every 30 minutes throughout the day.
A return to 30 minute daytime frequencies will ensure improved off-peak services can be provided between 9.30am and 3.30pm, while maintaining reliability. The increased frequency has resulted in changes to the first and last service times for some bus routes.
Some refinements have also been made to 14 school services based on school and community feedback, and to align with updated school bell times.
The new timetable does not include changes to weekend bus services and there are no changes to light rail frequency.
