Dear St Monica’s families and friends,
I think we do a magnificent job of making known the person of Jesus, Catholic Social Teaching is alive in our school in the way we treat one another, our outreach to the poor and the marginalised. This is the week to celebrate our Catholicity and to be proud of the Catholic Community we belong to. Our key celebration for Catholic School’s Week will be the commissioning of our Youth Ministers into their role at our Whole School Prayer time tomorrow morning.
Baby News - A big warm welcome to some of the tiniest and newest members of the St Monica's community. Baby Edith, sister to Evelyn in KM and Baby Willow, sister to Chloe in KB were born during the Easter holidays. We congratulate both families and look forward to having them in the Kindergarten class of 2029!!Warmest wishes,
Will H, Joshua R, Beau R, Karlin O, Declan C, Sienna R
RE Curriculum
Focus on Year 6
Year 6 are learning about the Australian Catholic Church and the contributions made by individuals and organisations to the development of the Catholic faith in Australia. It is a rich history that includes St Mary MacKillop, rebel priests who celebrated sacraments in secret, and Caritas Australia. The contributions made by Catholic education communities has been extensive. In our comparatively short history our Church has certainly grown and changed remarkably. Perhaps you’d like to investigate some of this rich history yourselves?

Whole School Prayer Time
Easter
Thank you Year 5 for your wonderful Whole School Prayer Time last Friday. I think everyone was humming “Hallelujah” for the rest of the day – not a bad way to continue to celebrate Easter. ?
Catholic Schools Week
Tomorrow, Friday 5 May, the Youth Ministry Team will be blessed and commissioned in St Monica’s Church at 9.15am. This is a special celebration of Catholic Schools Week. These Year 6 students have chosen to learn more about their own faith and to be willing to work with their peers and younger children in sharing and developing the faith of our community. You are invited to come and bear witness to this special blessing and commissioning.

Below is the list of when each year level aims to attend the Wednesday morning mass at 9.30am. You are warmly invited to join us in these Eucharistic celebrations.

Congratulations to Aiden Mc (6 Maroon) who won the ACT Boys Primary School Golf Championship last Monday when he played at Murrumbidgee Golf Club. This may gain Aiden selection for the Australian Championships in November which will be held in Perth. We await confirmation of this. Well done Aiden!!
What a fabulous start to the term for Canteen! Thank you so much to our valuable volunteers who have helped with both normal canteen and the sausage sizzle – Katherine O’Sullivan, Fiona Steinberg, Esme Rolleston, Angalea Turnbull, Tim Porter, Chrissie McKnight, Alyce Miletic, Bek Stevenson, Ling Fei, Katarina Pilatic and Chris Regan – you are all amazing.
Thank you to our loyal customers for supporting our first sausage sizzle in many years. It was very popular and certainly something we will do again.
We still have some lolly bags left over and will sell off the last of them tomorrow so they do not go to waste. This will be the last canteen red day for this term.
As always, if there are any issues please email me wendy.regan@cg.catholic.edu.au, my work days are Wednesday – Friday.
