Principal
First Eucharist
Congratulations to our First Eucharist Candidates who celebrated their First Eucharist last week. They were very excited to receive the body of Christ for the first time. Fr Loi summed it up so well for all of us, that we are sacramental people. The Holy Eucharist is the summit of our faith and each week we come together as a sacramental community to receive our spiritual nourishment. Fr Loi explained that when we go without everyday food our bodies shake and we feel unwell. This is the same if we go without our spiritual nourishment at Mass. When we fall on tough times, our faith starts to shake.
The First Eucharist celebrations continue at the Stonham household this weekend with my daughter Emily making her First Eucharist on Sunday. The dress has been bought, the homepages have been completed and the lunch has been booked.
Let’s all continue the celebration and continue to nourish our spirits!
See you all at Mass.

Daily Review
As part of the Catholic Education Catalyst Project, we have several teachers participating in professional learning aimed at developing High Impact Teaching Practices. As part of this learning, several classes are trailing Daily Review in Mathematics. This process focuses on 20 minutes of reviewing core concepts in maths from across all areas of the curriculum to consolidate key understandings. Teachers have been doing this for about a term and teachers and students are really engaging in this process and see the benefits that it has for student learning. Here is what students and teachers in our community feel:
Miss Battye- Students have been able to recall essential number facts quickly and apply them to other tasks in their learning
KB students- we like counting and practising writing our numbers each day
Joel (5EM)- it is a fun and engaging way to learn maths and practice my skills
Emi (5MM)- I like it because Mr Matchett always challenges us in what we know and what we need to improve on
Mrs Brown- the repetition and recall of number concepts daily has allowed students to improve their maths skills and work confidently when solving problems.
1BH- we enjoy counting backwards and forwards, showing Mrs Brown our learning and learning about new areas of maths
Mrs Stonham- It is great that students get to practise concepts daily and it is transferring into other activities and assessments
Aiden (4SG)- we learn new things and it is fun to practise my maths skills
Charlie (4SG)- It is good because we revise all the things we have learnt in class so we do not forget it

Happy Birthday to the following students celebrating a Birthday this week
Sarah D-H, Yianni K, Isabelle J, Milla F, Aiden S, Leonardo S, Christian M, Lauren F
Thank you so much to last week's awesome volunteers, some of whom came in at very short notice - Sarah Clark, Katherine O'Sullivan, Rach Pentes, Angalea Turnbull, Chris Regan, Michelle Bowman, Jane Rabbets, Esme Rolleston, Simone Hogan and Katrina Ciampa. On Friday we had just under 230 lunch orders. I could not deliver this volume of food without these wonderful people. Everyone works hard, has great fun and makes wonderful connections with other parents. Plus the kids really love to see someone they love through the canteen window. I am always looking for new people to join in the fun and keep our canteen operating so if you ever have even just an hour or two to spare please consider sharing your time with us.
Volunteer opportunities for "Canteen Volunteers - Term 2 2021" are still open.
Please click on the following web link (or copy it into your web browser if clicking doesn't work) to go to the signup sheet:
In other exciting news we will soon have Juice Bomb 6 packs available from the canteen just in time for the school holidays. Keep an eye out for the notice of when these will be available (via Qkr! only) and further information on cost and pick up arrangements.
Special thanks to the Pilatic family for their kind donation of cutlery.
Thanks for supporting our school canteen.
