Sacrament of Confirmation

Last night we gathered in St Monica’s Church to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. A prayerful, reverent and respectful time was experienced by all who were present. Congratulations to the students who were confirmed, your demeanour was exceptional and a true reflection on your preparation and understanding of the Sacrament. Many thanks to all involved in the journey to confirmation, especially Chris Evans and Kathy Moir, the Year 6 teachers.

Here are a few reflections from the students.

“I was nervous but in the end, I felt somehow different- a good feeling!” Dom

“I had a speaking role and that made me feel special that I had a part to play in such an important celebration.  I also didn’t ever think that I would wear a tie- but I did! It was a cool tie!” Marin

“I felt like it was going to a big formal event and I had to be serious. BUT when we met the Archbishop and he started telling jokes, it made the occasion feel more open and relaxed – a time to be with the Holy Spirit- the Archbishop also blessed my holding cross.” Fletcher

“I liked how the Archbishop told us that God is with us always. I felt very special during the anointing  -The Holy Spirit was with us.” Caydence

“I felt very special when the Archbishop anointed me- I felt like a new person. I like the effort that went into decorating the church- all the things on our seats and the flame posters on the walls- Thank you.” Adrian
