Principal's Message

Dear St Monica’s families and friends,

Archdiocesan Assembly – Over 500 people across our Archdiocese participated in the Assembly which drew on the voice of the Holy Spirit about the direction of our Schools and Parish Communities. Fr Mick, Maggie Lloyd, Melanie Stratford, Ryan Matchett, Veronica Melville and myself represented our school and all felt empowered about the conversations that took place. Maggie was interviewed by the Catholic Voice and you can read the article and watch her interview by clicking this link Archdiocesan Assembly 2024

Staffing News –
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Mrs Liz Foster has been successful in securing a Voluntary Teacher Transfer to Holy Family Primary School in 2025. Liz has been part of the St Monica’s Community for the past 9 years and has been an inspirational leader and teacher for our school and I know she will be missed. We will be advertising for Liz’s Coordinator position next week.

After a Voluntary Teacher Transfer this year, Mrs Alisha Barrett will stay at St Monica’s in a substantive role from 2025. Alisha joined St Monica’s at the beginning of the year and has worked across our Year 2 classes. We wish you a long and happy association with St Monica’s Alisha!

After much deliberation, Mr Brendan Drake, our fabulous Well-being Officer, has tendered his resignation just this week. Brendan has been instrumental in looking out for and looking after the students in our school who have required additional support. He has set up lunchtime table tennis and curated a number of ukulele presentations.

Classroom Teachers for next year are currently being organised and class structures will be communicated to families in Week 9.

ACT Children’s Week Award – Congratulations once again to Laura Frogley who received an ACT Children’s Week Award from former Senator Margaret Reid OA and had her citation read from Deputy Director Catholic Education, Dr Tony Bracken!

KinderSTARter Program – This year we are piloting, for the very first time, a Kindergarten preparation program. KinderSTARter is an opportunity for our incoming Kinder students to participate in a range of activities and experiences that reflect a typical morning in a St Monica's Kindergarten classroom. The 7 sessions will be led by Kirsty Godschalx and Laura Frogley and it will run on Wednesday mornings (concurrently with our Little MonSTARs playgroup. Here's a couple of our K25s at KinderSTARter yesterday!

Peace and spring blessings,
