CONFIRMATION PRAYER

Spirit of God, grant me: The gift of wisdom To see the world through your eyes, The gift of counsel To make difficult decisions, The gifts of knowledge and understanding To use my mind to know you and to love you, The gift of fortitude To have the courage to live in the faith Despite the difficulties and disappointments, The gift of piety To be able to express my special love And commitment to you, And the right kind of awesome fear That makes me pause to wonder and revere God’s Love. Amen.

Confirmation

Last night we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation and our second group of Year 6 students will make their Confirmation tonight. The occasion of Confirmation is a significant event in one’s spiritual life. The Sacrament of Confirmation confirms membership in the Christian community and seals Baptism with an anointing. Confirmation consists of a prayer to the Holy Spirit, the laying on of hands while the prayer is said and the anointing of the candidate with oil of Chrism.

Last night Archbishop Christopher Prowse and Father Mick did a wonderful job with this special liturgy. Thank you to our REC Melanie Stratford and our Year 6 teachers Melinda Brown, Kayla Larkins and Hamish Meagher for all their dedication and care shown in assisting the students to prepare for their Confirmation. This is such an important spiritual milestone, and we all have a vital role in helping our children to understand the significance of their faith, embrace their responsibilities, and grow in their relationship with God.

First Day of School next term

A reminder that the first day back for St Monica’s students will be Monday, 14 October. Please note that our school does not have a Pupil-Free Day on this day, as this only applies to Government schools. We look forward to welcoming all our students back for an exciting Term 4!

Summer Uniform
Summer Uniform commences in Term 4 so please check the wardrobe and organise an upgrade if needed.  The school clothing pool is stocked with new and pre-loved clothing.  Purchases can be made through Qkr! We will have a Week 1 transition period in Term 4 to cater for the unpredictable weather.
