Principal's Message
Dear St Monica’s families and friends,
HOLY WEEK & EASTER - This Sunday, we look forward to the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. In the lead up to this day however, we are reminded of the suffering and sacrifice Jesus made for each of us when he shared the Last Supper with his friends, prayed in the garden on his own to finally walking the road to Calvary where he was crucified and died.
However, let us remember that after the darkness there is light and each day is a brand new start for us all. I wish all St Monica’s families a Happy Easter. If you are travelling come back to us safely, if you are staying in Canberra enjoy some relax time. We look forward to next Tuesday, when 3 White will lead the Easter Whole School Prayer Liturgy at 10.30am up in the Church.
CAMP: This week our Year 5s were lucky enough to attend camp at Borambola, NSW. One nice thing about going on camp with the students is you get to see their personalities outside of the school environment. I sincerely thank Kathy Moir, Laura Frogley, Ryan Matchett and Brendan Hague, who freely gave up their personal and family time to look after the students. It was pleasing to receive reports from the teachers about how well the students worked with one another to solve problems and accept challenges both in teams and as individuals.
ENROLMENT PERIOD FOR 2025 - St Monica’s is now accepting enrolments for the 2025 school year! We also have places available in all year levels for 2024.
Our Open Days and Tours will be held on:
- Tuesday, 14 May: 9:00am – 11:00am and 4:00pm – 6:00pm with a Parent Information session being offered on this day from 6:15pm – 7:00pm
- Thursday, 16 May: 9:00am – 11:00am and 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Whilst a variety of formats will be used to promote our school during this time, we know that ‘word of mouth’ is often the best form of advertising. I sincerely thank, our wonderful parent community, who always speak so positively about St Monica’s.
Pre-Service Teachers - We are so pleased to welcome Ruta Valiultye and Courtney Allaid to St Monica’s Primary School. Ruta and Courtney are Pre-Service teachers from the Australian Catholic University, who have been placed in Kindergarten Maroon and 1 Maroon to gain practical knowledge about the day to day teaching and running of a classroom. Good teacher training and experiences in schools are important for the development of Pre-Service teachers. We are pleased to be able to assist them on their journey in becoming effective teachers and learners.
TERM 2 DATES - Students return to school on Tuesday 30 April in Winter School uniform. Please try on the uniforms over the next few weeks, to ensure they are ready for day one next term. Winter Uniforms can be ordered from the Uniform Shop via Qkr! or pop in on Friday mornings from 8.45am.

- Wed 3 and Thurs 4 April: Sacrament of Reconciliation
- Friday 5 April: Star Awards (in the Courtyard)
- Saturday 6 April: FETE!!
