Religious Life of St Monica’s 

Prayer and Worship  

You are invited to join us tomorrow for our Opening Mass and Year 6 Leader Commissioning at 9.30am in St Monica’s church. We will come together as a whole school to begin our year of ‘Flourishing in the Footsteps of St Monica’. For our First reading from the book of Genesis staff will be re-telling the full Creation story, which reaffirms the message that when God created us it was very good. The Gospel by comparison is short and is our focus scripture for 2024 from John 10:10 “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” 

Our theme calls us to live out our footsteps of Respect, Resilience, Engagement and Growth and inspires  us to focus on our relationships with ourselves, others, God and our surroundings so that we all may ‘Flourish'.

Next Wednesday we celebrate Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the change in our Liturgical Season from Ordinary Time to Lent. In this season, we prepare ourselves to celebrate the high point of our Christian life, Easter. Each year, the readings for Ash Wednesday are the same. They call us to a change of heart and teach us about the traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
