Religious Education News - Carmel Rheinberger

Sacrament of Eucharist

Congratulation to all the students of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish who received the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time last weekend. The students were very, very excited and conducted themselves in a reverent and prayerful manner.

Thank you to Fr Loi for his time and patience, the parish musicians who added a special dimension to our liturgies and all who assisted us in walking the students on this journey.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day

Today June 27, we celebrate the feast day of Our Lady of Perpetual Help- our parish patron saint.  Yesterday St Monica’s School gathered to celebrate Mass for our feast day. Fr Loi spoke about the special relationship between us and our mothers and from here our relationship with Mary, our mother, who is always there to help us.

The Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is one of the most well known and displayed icons in Catholic homes and churches. In Australia, its prevalence is due to the influence of the Redemptorist Order of Priests and Brothers who ‘gave missions’ in parishes around the country. They were known for their ‘fire and brimstone’ delivery of homilies. However, they also prompted devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day- St Monica’s and St Michael’s School

Tomorrow the two schools are gathering to celebrate our Parish Feast Day.  St Monica’s Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students are travelling across to St Michael’s for a morning of prayer, fun and games. St Michael’s Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 students are coming across to join with us at St Monica’s – for a similar morning of prayer, fun and games. We look forward to building our parish connections and getting to know each other.
