Principal’s Message
Dear Parents,
A Prayer To Our Mother of Perpetual Help
Most Holy Virgin Immaculate, our perpetual help, my Mother Mary, you are the mother of my Lord, the queen of the universe, the advocate, the hope, and the refuge of sinners. I, who am in great need of your Son's grace, have recourse this day to you.
I am most grateful for the many graces you have bestowed upon me in the past. I place in you my prayers for my eternal salvation. Accept me as your child and shelter me under your mantle, you who are the mother of mercy.
From you, I ask for a true love of your Son, Jesus Christ. Through you, I hope to die a holy death. My dear Mother, by the love you bear to Almighty God, I pray that you assist me always, but most of all at the last moment of my life.
Mary, conceived without sin, continue to be my Mother of Perpetual Help. Amen.
Next term Susan Carswell will be on Long Service Leave for the first three weeks of the term. During this time Mr Andras Toth will be taking the class with Serae Love teaching on a Thursday. Monika Richards will also be on leave for the first two weeks of term.
Today and tomorrow Luke Donnelly and Christopher Evans are attending a two-day course, "Talk for Writing". We are considering this professional learning as a direction for St Monica's to support the development of writing across the school.
Unfortunately, our school counsellor has been appointed to another position from the commencement of next term. We are currently waiting to hear from CatholicCare who will be our replacement. I am hoping this will be finalised before the commencement of next term.
We currently have Joshua Dalton and Lochy Smith, Educators in our SMOOSH care program, working with children over morning tea and lunchtime breaks to encourage cooperative play. We very much appreciate their assistance at this time of the term when everyone is tired. We are currently finding the children are displaying a lack of patience and manners around the school. Please remind your child of the importance to think before acting.
Leaving St Monica's
A final reminder to those who are yet to lodge their online enrolment application for St Monica's Primary School. Your enrolment applications are over-due.
Those who think they may not be at St Monica's next year (Year 6 exempt) are also asked to let me know your intentions, via writing. My estimates regarding predicted numbers for St Monica's in 2020 must be submitted to the Catholic Education Office soon. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Uniform Change
As indicated in an earlier newsletter the children in Years 5 & 6 are permitted to wear navy short during the winter months. This option has been extended across the school, from Kinder to Year 6. Boys and girls must wear the correct style if electing to wear shorts.
God bless
Carmel Maguire
