Annual School Improvement Plan - Part 2
Focus 2: Achieve a consistent approach to effective pedagogy across the curriculum and assessment process.
To provide the children with the learning opportunities that lead to the development of skills for learning, the teachers at St Monica's all engage in rich professional learning opportunities and action research in a nominated Professional Learning Team know as ( the St Monica's PLTs).
We have set the following goals to achieve this focus area
1. PLTs to complete action research on effective pedagogies in English, Mathematics and Conceptual Inquiry, including RE, that leads to improved student academic growth.
2. Collective Efficacy to be increased through the implementation of authentic Professional Learning Communities via PLTs (Professional Learning Teams) and grade teams.
How are we doing in 2019?
PLTs - Engage in targeted professional learning to develop an understanding of effective pedagogy to be implemented by PLTs and evaluate based on student growth. Consultants employed to support the development of effective pedagogy - Mathematics -Leonie Anstey, English - Petra Cole, Sounds Write (Spelling) - James Lyra and Religious Education - Andrea Muller.
Implement the new Catholic Education assessment schedule with the St Monica's schedule to track student learning and progress.
Conceptual Inquiry & Collective Efficacy - Extend the use of visible learning in Mathematics, English and Conceptual Inquiry units with an emphasis on Learning Intentions, Success Criteria and Building Teacher Efficacy.
Contemporary Environment - Explore plans for an outside classroom area to be designed and established, create new flexible learning spaces around the school, and establish a new master plan for a new building, located in the area of the old portable, that will accommodate team teaching and collaboration – multi-space area.
