Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day Celebrations

Our_Lady_of_Perpetual_Help.jpg

On Tuesday, 27 June, we celebrated the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day as a Parish community. Students at both schools participated in a liturgy which celebrated Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, our Heavenly Mother. We listened to the gospel, sang songs of praise, reflected on what Mary means to us and offered prayers to Mary.

Activities in classes were focused on learning about the Our Lady of Perpetual Help icon. The students observed the different colours and symbols in the icon, noting how Jesus is comforted in His mother’s arms. Students learned that like Jesus, they can have confidence in turning to Mary with their troubles. They wrote their own personal prayers to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The 3-6 students used the icon to pray the Visio Divina, a prayer in which we allow the image to speak to our heart.  Students also participated in a prayer scavenger hunt and recited prayers including our school prayers, the Our Father and the Hail Mary.  It was a wonderful, community day which assisted to deepen the students’ knowledge of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Special thanks to all the staff from both St Michael’s and St Monica’s for your extra efforts in making this day so special.

Confirmation

Our Parent Formation evening for the parents of those children preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in our parish is on Thursday 20 July at 6.00pm. At this stage it will be online and a link will be sent in the first week of next term. Please put this date in your diaries as it is an essential element of the preparation program.
