Don’t forget that our Christmas Spirit Dress up day is on tomorrow! It is a day to give thanks to you all for helping to make Christmas a special one for so many in our community. Children can come dressed up in Christmas clothes, accessories, hair decorations – ideas are endless!

Second Week of Advent

Did you know that the word “Advent” comes from the Latin word adventus which means ‘coming’. In the 4^th and 5^th centuries Advent was a time of preparation for the Baptism of new Christians. But over time Advent was connected to the coming of Christ. Today we celebrate Advent over the four weeks leading up to Christmas each year. During the four weeks we take up the invitation to take our minds off the stress of the year. It’s a chance to focus our thoughts on the Gift God has given us, Jesus!

This coming Sunday is the second Sunday of Advent. The focus is on ‘Peace’. Here is a prayer your family might like to say to begin the second week together:

God of Peace,

Instill in us Your peace,

That surpasses all understanding.

As we prepare for His coming,

Make us instruments of Your peace

And help us to find rest in the Prince of Peace,

Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
