Religious Education News - Carmel Rheinberger

PENTECOST SUNDAY- this Sunday  - 9 June

Religion_Week_6.jpg

At the feast of Pentecost, we welcome the coming of the Holy Spirit- the fulfilment of Jesus’ promise that He would not leave his apostles alone.  Pentecost Sunday is one of the most ancient feasts of the Church, celebrated early enough to be mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles (20:16) and St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians (16:8). It is the 50th day after Easter including Pentecost. On Pentecost Sunday, when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, they were granted the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Those gifts helped them to fulfil their mission to preach the Gospel to all nations.

We pray:

“Come Holy Spirit,

Fill the hearts of your faithful,

Kindle in them the fire of Your Love.

Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,

and You shall renew the face of the earth.

Amen”

We look forward to welcoming all our special visitors tomorrow. Many thanks to all those who have made a special effort to travel distances to be with us. We appreciate your generosity.

The timetable for the day is as follows:

Please feel free to drop your Grandchildren at their classrooms however we would then like you to make your way to the Hall to be seated. As there are a lot of children and adults to move into the hall it will be very congested.  Seating will be on the left of the Hall as you enter from the rear.

9:45am-10:15am: Morning Tea for guests in St Monica’s School Hall.

10:15am- 11:00am: Class Visits

Thank you to all who have offered to help with morning tea. If you are bringing food for morning tea could you please drop it off at the hall- there will be tables inside the back doors for you to place it on. Please label any plates you wish to be returned.

A HUGE thank you to those who have offered to assist with morning tea preparations and pack up. I will be in the hall from 8:30am.
