Scholastic Book Fair 

Thank you to all the families who have been in to buy books from the book fair. You have supported both your children’s love of reading and the school library.  I look forward to buying new titles for the students to enjoy reading. The book fair will be open Thursday and Friday afternoon from 3.15pm to 4pm and on Friday morning from 8.30am until 9.15am.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Yesterday St Monica’s students joined over 2 million children across Australia and New Zealand for the biggest Australian storytime ever to celebrate reading.  Visit ALIA News Biggest Storytime Ever to read more details. The Book for 2022 a “celebration of family, community and the seasons of life to cherish and to share” was Family Tree by Josh Pyke and Ronojoy Ghosh.  Hopefully this story provided stimulus for discussing your own families.

Kids’ Lit Quiz

On Wednesday 25 May we had 4 Year 6 students representing St Monica’s  at the ACT Heat of Kids’ Lit Quiz at Merici College. Our second team needed to withdraw due to illness.  Sarah, Sophie, Emilia and Lachlan worked well together to answer 100 questions about literature.  Well done to Sophie who won 3 of the bonus trivia questions and received a $15 voucher.  Thank you to Mrs Moir for her assistance with preparing the students and Mrs Lloyd for accompanying the students on the day to the event.
