Scholastic Book Fair
The countdown is on with less than 2 weeks until our Book Fair. We will be holding a Book Fair in Week 5 Monday 23 - Friday 27 May. It will be open from 8.30am - 8.50am in the mornings and 3.15pm - 3.45pm in the afternoon. The Fair will be in the library.
The Book Fair is an important fundraiser for the library as the library receives a percentage of the sales from the bookfair. Each book purchase contributes to new books for the library. The funds raised from this book fair will be used to purchase books for the junior fiction and non-fiction section of the library. Last year we sold 362 books, so this year our goal is to have 380 books in students’ homes, so please support the library to reach this target.
Do you have some talents that could help us out at our Book Fair? I am looking for people to help with helping shoppers at the fair, the checkout and packing up. If you are interested in helping please email me with details of how you would like help and your availability - veronica.melville@cg.catholic.edu.au
On Wednesday 25 May we will be joining over a million children across Australia and New Zealand to celebrate reading. The Book for 2022 a “celebration of family, community and the seasons of life to cherish and to share” is Family Tree by Josh Pyke and Ronojoy Ghosh. It will provide a wonderful opportunity for families to talk about how their families have grown and changed over the years.
Kids’ Lit Quiz
Next Wednesday 25 May we will have 8 Year 6 students representing the school at the ACT Heat of Kids’ Lit Quiz. The Kids' Lit Quiz is for students aged 10 - 13 years, with the students working in Teams of 4 to answer 100 questions on children’s literature. The students have been preparing this year by reading a wide variety of books and doing practice quizzes to test their knowledge. We wish the students all the best.
