May is traditionally dedicated to honouring and seeking the intercession of Mary as the Mother of Jesus and Mother of the Church.
“She is that woman who rejoiced in the presence of God, who treasured everything in her heart, and who let herself be pierced by the sword. Mary is the saint among the saints, blessed above all others. She teaches us the way of holiness and she walks ever at our side. She does not let us remain fallen and at times she takes us into her arms without judging us.” —Pope Francis, Gaudete et Exsultate, no. 176
This month, as a family, you may like to pray using the Rosary. Where does the word ‘Rosary’ come from? It comes from a Latin word Rosaria, which means a crown of roses or a garden of roses. It grew in the second millennium of Christianity, particularly in Western Christianity around the 14th century. It’s attributed to Saint Dominic.
The Rosary is a sequence of prayers. St John Paul II said, it’s a compendium of the Gospel and it helps us to grow in our faith as we come to learn more about the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus.

In Australia, we also celebrate our mothers! This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a day where we celebrate all the wonderful things that make our mother’s special to us. It’s really important that we tell our mums or significant women in our lives just how much we love and appreciate them!
How did you celebrate mum or the significant women in your life? I would love to create a display of the love we show this coming Sunday! Please email photo’s or drawings to Haley Stonham by Wednesday next week. You can either send via email or to the front office.
Have a blessed weekend!
