Dear St Monica’s families and friends,
It is with great pleasure I welcome all in our school community to Term 2. I trust the Easter break afforded all families an opportunity to relax, spend time with loved ones, enjoy the glorious Autumn weather or get some of those jobs, you have been putting off for a while, done and dusted!
This term our over-arching theme is centred around our footstep of Resilience. Key atrributes of this footstep are: accepting challenges, managing my mistakes, saying it is okay if I don't get things right the first time, knowing how to react and respond when I find myself in a challenging situation, self-regulation, focusing on the positive and being flexible and patient if things don't go my way.
Staff Professional Learning - on Tuesday the whole staff came together for Professional Development around the Science of Reading and to review the school's 2022 Annual School Improvement Plan (AIP). The 3 major goals for our AIP are:
Goal 1: Student Achievment - Improved outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy
Goal 2: Student Engagement - High Impact Teaching Practices are evident in every classroom
Goal 3: Student Well-being - Create equitable outcomes for all students.
The Key improvement stategies for each of these goals will be presented at the Open Forum Council Meeting next Wednesday 4 May.
COVID-19 Updates Information about the changes to the COVID-19 guidelines for Catholic Schools, was sent out via Compass yesterday. We will regularly review and update our approach to managing COVID-19 as appropriate. I am very pleased to be able to welcome parents back onto the school grounds! Parents and visitors who are volunteering in classrooms or around the school, attending appointments or school events must sign in at the Front Office. Sign-in is not required for morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up or when visiting the uniform shop.

St Monica’s Open Days – Thursday May 12 and Tuesday May 17
I am pleased to announce the dates for the St Monica's School Open Days. Word of mouth is always the best advertisment for prospective families looking to enrol their child into a school. Please share the good news about our school and invite people to come for a visit in May. The flyer below will be used to market our school in the coming weeks. A letterbox drop and advertising campaign is currently being organised in preparation for the Catholic Schools Enrolment period.
Peace and blessings to all families,
Lisa
