Principal's Message
Dear St Monica’s families and friends
In Psalm 46, we pray these words of encouragement:
‘God is our refuge and strength’. We ask that he hear our prayers for all those affected by the devastating floodwaters throughout southeastern Queensland and across the state of NSW.
We ask that he give courage and hope in the midst of despair. Grant wisdom to those who assist, especially government leaders, our State Emergency Service, our Australian Defence Force, other emergency workers and aid agencies. By your gracious hand, rebuild communities where men, women and children are nurtured with care and love. - Amen
Media Permission
Please inform the front office if you would like to update your Media Permission forms for your child/children. We continue to use permissions previously granted. However, if you would like to update this information, please inform us and we will send a new note home.
Easter Raffle
The Easter Raffle will be happening again this year. Shortly your child/children will be sent home with raffle ticket booklets. Each grade level will have a particular colour. We have taken on feedback from previous years to allow each grade to have a shot at snapping up an Easter Hamper. Information about the raffle will be on the front of the tickets. If you have more than one child at the school there is no obligation to purchase all raffle tickets in each book. However your children may like to sell tickets to neighbours or family members. These tickets will go into a draw for the community Easter Hamper.
We ask that you send donations in for the Easter Raffle so that we can begin to create Easter Hampers. Donations may include a variety of chocolate Easter eggs or chocolate Easter bunnies and basically anything you think would look nice in an Easter Hamper. The Easter Hampers will be drawn in Week 10 (Friday 8 April), just before the holidays, so we ask that the items are delivered to school no later than Friday 1 April. If you donate an Easter item your child will automatically receive one free ticket.
A massive thanks to Kirra Thompson for facilitating this.
NAPLAN 2022
On 24 March, all schools around Australia will be participating in a NAPLAN school practice test to ensure that our technology is working in preparation for NAPLAN in May of this year. This will also provide an opportunity for our students to use the demonstration site prior to the test to help familiarise themselves with the types of questions and tools they will be using.
We will share more information about NAPLAN closer to the actual testing days. In the meantime, please head to https://www.nap.edu.au/online-assessment/public-demonstration-site if you require additional information. If you have any questions about NAPLAN Online, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
COVID 19 Updates
Thank you one and all for supporting our school with the Covid restrictions. I appreciate the efforts you have gone to when testing your children using the RATs supplied, as well as following the procedures when a student has tested positive or showing symptoms. We appreciate your continued support in this area and are hopeful that restrictions will continue to ease.
