Second Week of Advent

This coming Sunday marks the second week of Advent. Year 3 lead us all during School prayer as we added the second purple candle to our Advent wreath. This candle is called the Peace candle and reminds us of the peace that Jesus brought to the world at his birth.

We can’t forget that this year is the Year of St Joseph. We can look to St Joseph during our preparation for the birth of Jesus at Christmas. Scripture portrays Joseph as being open to God, even though he was faced with a big decision. Joseph was not only open to God but was obedient, upright, and, above all, kind. We can only imagine the confusion of emotions that he would have been going through. But Joseph trusted in God and in His plan for him.

Joseph’s wise dealing with Mary is a model for us when we face complex moral and personal challenges. We too, can be open to listening to God and trusting in His plan for us, especially this Advent season.
