Principal's Message

Dear Parents

We have had a settled start to the term with all classes busy setting up their programs for Term 3. This is a busy week for the teachers as they provided feedback to the school reports published through our Compass Portal, at the end of last term. The teachers still have a number of places available for Parent Teacher Interviews/Conferences so please log into your Compass Portal and go to the Conference tab to make your booking. Check you have selected your child to ensure you can make a booking. As with all new systems, should you have a problem please contact the school and we will provide assistance. Compass is the parent communication system CE has implemented for all our Catholic primary schools.

K-2 Swim Safety Program

Last term we asked parents from our K-2 families if they would like to participate in the K-2 Swim Safety Program after it was cancelled in 2020. Across all three grades, we had less than 65% of families opting into the program. As a result of this the decision has been made not to continue the program. Teachers in K-2 will use the Kids Alive resources to teach water safety in their health programs in Term 4. We will also look into the opportunity of booking a water safety day at a local swimming pool to practise these skills.

Year 1 Expression of Learning

The planning is finished, the construction has started. The Oompa Loompas will no longer be homeless. The Year 1 children invite their parents to the OPENING OF OOMPA LOOMPAVILLE, next week. Due to restrictions, parents must allocate their preferred time slot to come and visit this new community, on the slip sent home with the children. Check with your child's teacher if you have missed the invitation.

Rostrum Quater Final

Best of luck to Holly F(6H) who will represent St Monica's next Thursday at the Rostrum Quater Finals being held at Mt Rogers Primay School. I know Holly will be a wonderful representative for our school.

School Check-in

Parents and visitors are now asked to check-in via our CBR Check-in app and our Compass Kiosk, both located in the school foyer. While I know it is inconvenient having to do both we need to keep our community safe and maintain our visitor register.

Just in case - readiness for remote learning

To ensure we can change over to remote learning, if needed, I encourage parents to email if your child will require the use of a school device to access MS Teams and our online programs. We are currently checking that all passwords are working to make the transition a smooth one, should it be required. Fingers crossed we don't have to go with remote learning. Whatever happens, we will be ready to assist families.

Special Prayers

Please continue to keep Savannah (2E) in your prayers. We didn't receive any updates on her progress today but I will continue to keep our community well informed.
