National Simultaneous Storytime
Today we took part in National Simultaneous Story with over one million children from across Australia and New Zealand. The book was “Give me some space!” by Phil Bunting and was an intergalactic experience with the book being read by the astronaut Dr Shannon Walker from the International Space Station. The National Simultaneous Storytime website has great resources linked to science and space to further engage the students with an interest in space. https://www.alia.org.au/nss
To the Book Fair and Beyond! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon, so get ready for some out-of-this-world excitement! You’ll go where no reader has gone before as you explore the coolest array of books in the cosmos. This stellar reading celebration will run in the library from Tuesday 25 May to Friday 28 May. Just visit the Fair with your family or purchase books using the online method and you will go in the draw to win FREE BOOKS! This is one far-out event that you won’t want to miss!
The Bookfair is an important fundraiser for the library as the library receives a percentage of the sales from the bookfair. Each book purchase contributes to new books for the library. The funds raised from this bookfair will be used to purchase books for the fiction section of the library that we are focussing on updating with current titles. Our goal is to have 300 books in students’ homes, so please support the library to reach this target.
Students will bring home a Wishlist with the books they would like and their cost. The Wishlist will have instructions for paying online and students can then bring their sheet in with the receipt details and collect the books. Parents can come into the book fair and select and pay for books.
To ensure that the Book Fair is a Covid safe event we ask that you do not attend if you are feeling unwell and have any respiratory or COVID-19 symptoms. All parents will need to enter the school through the foyer and check in using ‘Checkin CBR’ App. There will be a maximum of 15 parents in the Book Fair area at any one time so you will need to check with a teacher before entering the area and ensure you always maintain social distancing. All adults and students will need to sanitise their hands before handling books. Thank you for your assistance with ensuring this is a Covid safe event.
