Athletics Carnival

What a wonderful day we had last week at Merici College! While it was a little chilly, all students had a fantastic day competing in various races and events. Thank you again to our parent community who supported us on the day and to the staff and students from Merici for making the day possible. A special thank you and well done to the Year 3 and 4 teachers for all of their preparation of the carnival.

Congratulations to the following 40 students who have qualified to represent St Monica's at the Belconnen Region Carnival at the AIS on Friday 20 August (Term 3, Week 6): Nicholas P, Cooper D, Charlie D, Lily H, Sienna R, Karlin O, Nikolas H, Nellie R, Sophie A, Paddy K, Ater A, Abigail N, April A-C, Charlie G, Joseph J, Bastijan P, Brock S, Xavier M, Jaryd S, Will Mc, Finn D, Bailey S, Samantha S, Leila W, Aiden S, Annabelle F, Madison R, Luca S, Ethan G, Sophie P, Luciarna G, Milla F, Arabella A, Laura R, Annalene L, Alissa H, Violet P, Amelia H, Bella P and Jessica Mc.  

Qualification Eligibility: Events specifically for 8 and 9 year olds: 70m and 100m. They can also compete in the group classification of 10&U for the 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus (No 200m). Events for 10, 11 and 12 year olds – 100m, 200m, 800m, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus. It is only the top 2 that qualify for each event.

We will also have further qualifiers from the Shot Put and Discus events which will take place at school throughout this term. I will advise when these results are complete and any further Belconnen qualifiers.

St Monica's will be responsible for convening the Belconnen region carnival. If any parents are interested and able to help with jobs on the day please keep this date in your calendar as I will be calling for volunteers later in the term.
