Dear Parents
Our Year 6 had a beautiful celebration on Tuesday to mark the end of their primary school years. The morning commenced with a very special liturgy prepared by the Year 6 team that involved the children's parents. During the liturgy the children shared their special memories and received their graduating certificates. The occasion was followed by a wonderful lunch prepared by Wendy Regan, our Canteen Manager. Thank you to the Year 5 parents for your generous donations that contributed to the day coordinated by Alicia Prest, Louise Dykes and Melinda Wrenford. The hall restaurant looked fabulous and the children really felt very special. Thank you to Luke Donnelly for the beautiful slideshow of student photos that added a very moving touch to the liturgies. It was a very memorable occasion.
Staffing
Next week we farewell Kirsty Price and Sarah Corkhill who transferred to St Monica's as part of a 12-month 2020 exchange. With Katarina Markovic returning in 2021 we were unable to keep Kirsty and Sarah. They have been valued members of our staff this year and will be missed. Sarah will be returning to Good Shepherd and Kirsty is taking up a part-time position at Holy Spirit.
Earlier in the year, Amanda Winne requested an exchange as an opportunity to experience another school. This week the arrangements were finalised. Amanda will be transferring to St Anthony's Primary, Wanniassa and Mrs Nicole Jenner will join the St Monica's staff for 2021.
This Friday we will farewell Pete Hales, our maintenance worker. Pete has decided to pack away his tools and enjoy his time with his family. He will be missed very much around the school.
Afternoon Pick up - Reminder
Please refrain from collecting a child prior to the bell if you do not have an appointment that requires an early departure. School finishes at 3.10pm.
We will continue to provide drive-through for the remainder of the term with pick up now commencing from 3.10pm, just as the bell rings. We are currently evaluating if we will continue drive-through in 2021.
Chomley Street
Chomley Street is definitely the new pick up zone for a lot more families. I need to remind families to avoid congregating and to social distance correctly. Any parent who feels they cannot collect their child by 3.20pm from Chomley Street should be directing their child/ren to be picked up at the front of the school. We need to cut back on the length of time teachers are providing supervision at the Chomley Street pick up point.
The Semester Two reports were sent home today with the children. Where a child lives between two homes the second report will be posited unless the school is aware of different arrangements.
Year 6 Fun Day
On Thursday 17 December, Year 6 children will enjoy a day filled with fun activities at school. Thank you to Mrs Foster for being creative and innovative.
Candy Canes
While the custom of giving Candy Canes with Christmas Cards is a lovely gesture the giving and sharing of lollies at school is not permitted.
School Magazine
The school magazine will be sent home with the eldest child early next week. One copy is allocated per family unless a second copy has been arranged via a split billing arrangement. As the cost of the magazine is included with the fees please ensure you are updated with your payments. Additional copies will be available for purchase from the front office for $30.00 until sold out. Payment will be accepted via Qkr from Friday.
