RE News - Haley Stonham
Last Friday we celebrated school prayer for the first time in Term 3. While we were not able to celebrate prayer together physically in the Church it was so great to see each class setting up their own sacred space, bring forward symbols of prayer that are special to each class. Some classes turned off their lights and turned on their candles to create a calm space for reflection and prayer and other classes gathered with their buddies. A big thank you to the teachers for preparing such a wonderful experience for each of your classes!
The focus of our school prayer each fortnight is a Gospel reading. Last Friday afternoon we listened to the Parable of the Sower as this is our focus scripture reading for the year. We reminded ourselves what it means to have hearts made up of the good soil. That means we have hearts that are ready to not only listen to God’s word but hear it, understand it and live it. That is what we are aiming for as a community who is growing together, living out God’s message of love and charity.
Our next School Prayer is Friday in Week 4 and will be led by the SRC and Mr Donnelly. I cannot wait to participate in our next School Prayer!
