Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day
Today we celebrated Our Lady of Perpetual Help Feast Day. It was a little different to how we usually celebrate, as we would usually have connected with St Michael’s physically in celebration. We began our day with a whole school liturgy in our classrooms and explored images of Mary and how she, as Jesus’ mother and mother to us all, is there for us when we pray. Fr Loi explained to the Year 6’s that when we pray, we don’t pray to Mary, but we ask Mary to intercede or take our prayers to God on our behalf. As I visited each class, there was a real sense of calm and reverence as classes prayed, discussed and sang in celebration!
Each child at St Monica’s and St Michael’s have helped to create a collaborative artwork that is going to be shared between the two schools. Meaghan and I will be swapping circle quarters and putting together the artwork over the next week - - watch this space!
The most exciting part of the day was being able to connect virtually with children and teachers from St Michael’s. Children were able to explain their artwork designs and say hi to their friends in our parish.
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
