Keeping Fit at Home - Ryan Matchett
Physical Activity and Fitness
Each week I will be sending out some fitness and physical activities and challenges for students and their families. During this time of remote learning, it is extremely important to have regular movement breaks as well as getting outside for free play, running around, riding a bike or simply going for a walk.
Hot Tip of the Week
Do we really need to take 10,000 steps a day?
Regular walking produces many health benefits, including reducing our risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes and depression. We often hear 10,000 as the golden number of steps to strive for in a day.
Activity Idea
The NSW School Sport Unit is creating a range of digital resources to support teachers and parents/carers in keeping students active at home.
Each week, GetActive@Home episodes will be released on the Department's website for students to watch and follow either at home or in the classroom. These will be linked to the NSW PDHPE K-10 syllabus and will be suitable for primary students.
Sharing is Caring
If you or anyone in your family has any great fitness or physical activity ideas please email them to me ryan.matchett@cg.catholic.edu.au and I will share them with the community.
